Falling Back into Blogging

Taking the time to fall back into blogging. Life's roller coaster has been keeping us very busy. It is always such an adventure. But I am falling back in place.

Fall has been a bit rainy here in my neck of the woods but we have had some very mild temperatures and I have enjoyed mother natures show. I enjoy decorating for fall and
can't wait for the pumpkins and mums to appear. Halloween was fun with all my little ghosts and goblins and now for my favorite holiday ~ Thanksgiving. It is a time that
brings back wonderful memories at Grandma's house. I treasure her recipes and can't
wait to smell them simmering away when our family celebrates.

We had a wonderful trip to Washington DC and New England. We were able to take in
Mt. Vernon and had a great visit. Then we enjoyed the sites of New England and my painting convention. My time there never seems long enough but we had a fun and I got to shop at some favorite prim shops.

Winter does seem to be sneaking in on us. Some chilly nights, frosts, even some snow
is letting us know its on the way. We have been slowly "putting away summer" and preparing for the cold temperatures and the white stuff.

However, this week we are enjoying 60's and finally sun and dry weather. I hope you all have a great weekend!

Happy Sunday, and Happy May!
I guess many of us are all experiencing all this rain and trying to stay calm and look forward to sunny days ahead. Spring is happening, the buds are opening, the grass is that lovely shade of spring green, we just can't get out to enjoy it.
I went to our local nursery and was thrilled to find the greenhouse filled with flowers and beautiful hanging baskets. I love that place, and spend many hours going up and down the isles. I did give in and purchased some flowers for container gardening and one hanging basket. Couldn't resist. We had a 37 degree night this past week so it's
still risky to plant anything you can't go out and quickly cover if frost is a threat. This weeks forcast is not much better, one day of sun so far for Wed. so will try to hang in there for another week.
Today is the 1st and Early Work Mercantiles update. Come on over and view the artisans new wares for the month of May. It will keep you out of the rain while you shop.

Good Chilly Morning!

We had a nice warm Monday that turned into a really rainy day with temperatures dropping back down to the 30's for the evening. But rain or not it felt soooo good to be out in warm weather, for that short time.

I have had computer problems and it has comsumed me and my life trying to get things all back up and running.
I lost a lot of my files and that is not good but what can you do. It just teaches you once again to back up those files.

Anyway I have a change in my blogs and I also will be offering some new retail primitive items as well. So if you get a chance take a look through my primitive window cupboard.

Well it may be cold and we have some snow on the ground, but I have a spring in my step.

Today I have a breakfast and then into the River City Gift Shoppe to drop off a few of my wares.

Then some family time this evening.

Sat. we are going to Berlin, Oh to Amish Country and primitive shoppes. I am finally getting the workwork done in the kitchen and just in a happy mood.

but our temps are still in the 30's. I look out the window and see the sun shining away and open the door and brrr. Today we are raking some winter mess up. I know with this Ohio weather one day we will be freezing and the next we will have the air on. Looking for signs of spring and this is it so far.

Happy 39th Anniversary to US

.Bob and I celebrated our 39th Anniversary on the 11th. My husband surprised me with a little get away to Amish Country in Berlin. We had a great room and took our dog with us, to avoid a pet sitter. Brooke did great, she is such a good dog! I had a great time shopping and we had some wonderful meals and a relaxing time. These are a few of my goodies.

Well, I did finish the kitchen and it came out wonderful, I love it! I chose a simple design and I think it adds a bit of color, still simple but adds something to the decor of the kitchen, and makes the room look larger.

I went with black and kahki in color. I am now sewing the valances but this is how it turned out;

Busy, busy, busy work

This week I had some computer issues and while waiting for a fix, decided to get back to the kitchen and updating. The winter is still hanging on so did some indoor projects. I have finished the stenciling and I love it.

I picked a simple design and it looks great and even make the kitchen space look larger. I have a country kitchen so I did expand the design throughout the dining area as well. This week I will finish the woodwork and making the curtains.

Finally picked out and received my new stencil for the livingroom. A new project will begin. Now on to picking out the colors I wil use. Hmmm. . .

Well, its been a little busy, as usual. My niece was married on the 6th of November which gave us a weekend in Georgia and a missed first snowfall. It was chilly in Georgia that weekend but at least we didn't have to shovel.

The wedding was fun, seeing family and revisitng with old friends. Now time to move on to our holidays.

I do not decorate for the Christmas season until I have had our Thanksgiving dinner so I will be busy getting the house ready for our family dinner. This year I will be having a late dinner to let all the in laws have the early shifts. But that is okay with me so I don't have to wake up super early to put the turkey in. My grand daughters are going to help me make some turkey cookies for our place setting cards. These are the cute cookie cutters I found.

Happy Veteran's Day, and thank you for all that have served and are serving to make our lives better.

I remember as a child and to this day, when the Star Spangled Banner was played I just teared up. I never knew or thought why. I was busy as a youngster, busy bringing up my family and running with chores, and carpools and events. Now, when look back I know it was because of what I learned of patriotism and it was just instilled in me. Now, I know what it all means and what it took for and from many to who have served in the military and I thank you.

Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween weekend. I was busy today making little treat bags for my grandkids. I also made some tasty treats for the adults. I made Pumpkin Spice Muffins and the Pumpkin Cake made from the yellow cake mix. I have seen this recipe many times and have never tasted or baked it until today and it was wonderful. I topped with whip cream and we all enjoyed it.

We had a pizza party and desserts and then got all the kids ready for Trick or Treat. This is the end result.

Jumping Into Fall

Well, I am jumping up and into fall, I know I have been away a very long time. Life got into high gear and I have been so very busy. My husband's job change, illness, wedding, visitors, kept me sooo busy.

My daughter's wedding was wonderful. We had a hot, stormy, very windy, day that turned into a a beautiful sunny, windy, warm day that made for a beautiful outdoor ceremony with a very happy celebration into the evening with family and friends.

My daughter wore my wedding dress and her father gave a wonderful toast and we visited and danced the night away.

The newlyweds are doing fine and I have finally gotten over the loss of things to do everyday. It is funny how we get into the habits of dealing and planning and when its all over we feel a loss.

So it is time to move on and get busy. The holidays are coming and time for me to get back to work and enjoy the fall season and home sweet home. The changing seasons bring us so much to do and make us enjoy our homes. I look forward to home cooked meals, sitting by the fire, hot cups of tea and a warm quilt to cuddle up with.
